The first part of our 2004 cruise through the Panama
Canal took place in San Diego, as the Legend of
the Seas arrived from her most recent
cruise from Hawaii to Mexico. We had just
arrived by air after a long "redeye"
flight from Maui. Fog had closed airports
all over Southern California, and we were lucky
to get in before noon. The timing was actually great,
because we arrived on the pier just as the luggage
check was opening up, and passenger processing
was beginning.
These photos show the Legend's arrival, some images of San Diego, and a little of the nighttime departure. We had a bonus, which forced us to leave the harbor later than scheduled: it was the night of the "holiday boat parade". Many small boats cruised around us, all lit up for the season. It was fun to start a cruise in so festive a way. (We had more festival later in the cruise for Christmas!)
These pictures were taken primarily with our new Kodak DX6490, which we love. The 10x optical zoom is great, and the electronics do a fine job of automatic adjustment and flash operations.
