Anyone who has visited Napier, NZ, will agree that it is very impressive. Its history is also impressive: A city destroyed in an earthquake, that then rebuilt in the 'current' Art Deco style of the 1930's.
The local people are justifiably proud of the reconstruction work done after so powerful a tragedy. It seemed like everywhere I pointed my camera, there was another amazing building facade, full of interesting detail. One of the highlights is the well-preserved National Tobacco building.
The surrounding area of Napier, including Hawkes Bay, is beautiful, and much of a tourist destination.
