Your machine cancel was made by a machine sold by the Columbia Postal Supply Company of Silver Creek, New York. The machines made by this company generate a wide variety of markings. This earlier marking can be confused with those made by other manufacturers: just one of the reasons why this 'machine finder' system was devised. The straight-line killer bars that are less than 18 mm in height appear more often than other Columbia types of this era.
