Introduction
We were given the opportunity to train as “assistants” to the hot-air balloon pilots. The assistants help with unpacking and deploying the balloons. They also help with landing, a job we actually performed a few times near our RV parking. After deployment, it was time to help pack up the balloon for the next time.
One very helpful balloon pilot set up and displayed his balloon at a local elementary school. We were invited to learn about the balloon operations tasks. We helped unpack, set up, inflate, and then take down and repack the balloon. (The balloon was tethered during this time.)
The school children really enjoyed watching all the work, and seeing the balloon fully inflated. So did the parents and teachers.
