Heimaey, Iceland, 2014

houses and lava flow

We visited several very impressive locations in Iceland. Heimaey has a remarkable story: nearly covered by lava from a volcanic eruption, this town was saved by the local firemen. The scenery at first seems bleak, but the surrounding area is alive with plants and animals.
