
This is the image of a cover that was franked with a charity stamp, rather than a valid US postage stamp. It appears to be a bill payment envelope, and is dated 1988. Charity stamps, such as Christmas Seals, appear on US covers and cards, but are not supposed to be placed where they can be mistaken for actual postage. Of course, this envelope was supposed to be franked with valid US postage.
There is no evidence that this letter was intercepted by the Post Office.
I find these types
of covers to be fascinating, and rarely miss a chance to add
new items to my collection.
