Since I started collecting troopships from the First World War, I've seen only a few of these cards. They are quite uncommon. The American Recreation Association was one of the charities officially sanctioned by the military during the War. Unlike the Jewish Welfare Board, or the YMCA, they did not have facilities on military bases. I assume that these cards were given out to returning troops, but I really have no information about them.
This listing has the items I know about. It would be interesting to have a complete list, especially with the numbering used by the ARA. I am always interested in information on these subjects. The card numbers, if any, are listed with the photo images.
In the following listing, it is noted if a JWB card is known for this ship. Some of the ships shown here are listed as having a JWB card, but I have not seen any example. Notations are similar to those for the JWB listing.
